Children’s dreams at the Woman-Mother-Child Hospital

Like all the moviegoers on Sunday at the Halle Tony Garnier, the young patients at the Woman-Mother-Child Hospital (re)discovered, on the big screen, Disney classic The Lion King, at a screening organized in partnership with the association Rêve de Cinéma.

"Who has seen the movie?" Do you know the Lion King song?" Enthusiastic hands shot up and smiles were everywhere this Wednesday afternoon, when actress and director Anne Le Ny came to introduce the Disney favorite at the Woman-Mother-Child Hospital. Made possible through a partnership with the association Rêve de Cinéma (Cinema dream), the screening had everyone in agreement in the amphitheater of the establishment.

"It's a great idea, my daughter is a patient at the cardiology hospital just across, so it was a good opportunity to come. This type of event does them good, it allows them to escape from the daily life of the hospital," comments Marie-Noëlle. Her daughter Valentine, 8 years old, a fan of the Despicable Me movies, is already looking forward to seeing the "hyenas attack the Lion King" on the screen. Released in 1994, the movie, directed by Roger Allers and Rob Minkoff has stayed fresh in everyone’s minds. "It's a great choice for the screening, because it really helps them escape, and it's also a film you can see at any age!" notes Anne Le Ny. After a presentation full of humor, the actress and director even lingers a few moments to savor this jewel of animation.

"We have organized more than 420 hospital screenings this year. The partnership we’ve had the Lumière festival over the past eight years continues to be very important for us," said Isabelle Svanda, general director of the Rêve de cinéma association. The organization will be present this Thursday at the Léon Bérard Center for a second screening.
